Using baking soda on hair
Remove build-up
Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water into a small bowl. Pour it into a spray bottle and use it as a clarifying hair rinse. Be sure to massage your scalp as well for about 5-10 minutes. Shampooing and pure hard water can disturb the pH of the scalp. Baking soda rinse will help to rebalance the acidity in your scalp. Optional: Finish up with a vitamin C hair rinse.

You can also add 1 tablespoon of baking soda directly on your shampoo. Lather on hair and massage your scalp. Then rinse off.
Chlorine damage
Dissolve 1/2 cup of baking soda in lemon juice. Pour the mixture onto hair and scalp after swimming in the pool. Rinse off with mild shampoo.
Caution
Baking soda is a mild abrasive. Refrain from overusing it on hair as it may strip hair of its natural oils, thus making it dry.
